Physical Key Fobs that are vulnerable to car relay theft

Any physical key fob used with a car that supports keyless entry/keyless start, or keyless start only, is vulnerable to car relay theft unless the key fob has a motion sensor or uses Ultra-Wideband (UWB).

A motion sensor causes the key fob to enter a ‘sleep’ state after it has remained motionless for a period of time (typically from around 30 seconds to several minutes, depending on the manufacturer), preventing it from responding to relay equipment.

Most physical key fobs currently in use on cars with keyless entry/keyless start, or keyless start only, do not yet incorporate UWB and many also lack motion-sensor-based sleep functionality.
